Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need a referral to schedule surgery at CORE?

No. Pet owners can contact us directly to schedule a consultation with our board-certified veterinary surgeons. We also work closely with referring veterinarians to coordinate specialty surgery and follow-up care.

How much does a surgical consultation cost?

A consultation with Dr. Davis is $200 and includes a full physical and orthopedic exam for your cat or dog. You’ll leave with a clear diagnosis, treatment options, and time to ask every question you have.

How much does surgery cost, and what payment options are available?

Costs vary depending on the procedure and your pet’s condition. You’ll receive a written estimate before any surgery is scheduled. We accept major credit cards, pet insurance, and third-party financing options such as CareCredit. Our goal is to make specialty surgery accessible and transparent, so there are no surprises along the way.

Do you provide second opinions?

Yes. Many families visit CORE for a surgical second opinion, whether they want to confirm a diagnosis, understand options, or get a clearer sense of cost and recovery. Second-opinion consultations follow the same process and pricing as our standard exams.

What types of surgeries do you perform?

We focus exclusively on procedures for cats and dogs including orthopedic surgery, soft-tissue procedures, and minimally invasive arthroscopic, laparoscopic and thoracoscopic surgery. Every case is handled by the same experienced team from start to finish.

Where are you located?

We have two hospitals in Massachusetts:

  • Plainville: 80 Taunton st, suite 5
  • Maynard: 15 Digital way suite 4 – next to planet fitness
  • Cambridge: Coming soon in 2026!

Both offer the same surgeon, team, and standard of specialty care for cats and dogs across Greater Boston and the MetroWest region.
